I am extremely happy to announce that our Mississauga East-Cooksville (MEC) Constituency Youth Council is back for 2017.
I invite all youth from the ages of 15 – 24 years old to apply to my Constituency Youth Council (CYC).
I am bringing this initiative back to bring together 10 to 20 young people from my riding, in order to engage them, and listen to them on the issues that matter to youth in our country. It is important that young Canadians have their say and can share their views and ideas with the government. As part of the Canadian government’s commitment to meaningful youth engagement, the Mississauga East-Cooksville Constituency Youth Council (MEC-CYC) will accept applications until Friday, October 21, 2016.
The MEC-CYC will include youth from different schools, neighbourhoods, and local associations. Once selected, the Council will meet several times throughout the year to discuss a number of issues that could include climate change, access to employment, LGBTQ issues, peacekeeping, and other topics that matter most to the community.
On the one hand, as the Member of Parliament I will learn more about the views of youth from my region through discussions. On the other hand, young people can network with the other participants, and better understand the Canadian political process as they take part in it.
To apply: Applicants must complete and submit the form below. Applications are due by midnight on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
